History Help ID this 30's V12 Hood Searched the Web.... No Luck

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by movin/on, Oct 8, 2008.

  1. Picked up this V-12 Hood today from the crush pile at the local yard for $5. I think it's a Cadillac but searching V12's on the web I couldn't get a good match. Looks like a Zephyr of the late 30's in overall shape but the front of the Lincoln Hoods drops down & doesn't have the V12 diecast piece.

The back 2" of the hood is rusted off but the hinges are solid so it's easily repairable. It's going to be a great wall-hanger.

39 Lincoln Zephyr. You can see the emblem/trim and hood ornament in this pic. Someone might actually need that hood or those trims, good save for $5

  3. Thanks. SquaBlow you hit the nail. I'm holding it here.
When I saw it I knew it was quite similar to my 48 Continental but not the same. Figured it might be a Cadillac.

The salvage yard was getting ready to throw some washing machines on the hood to fill his loader & I just had to stop him before it hit the crusher. I'd been in Michigan for about 10 days & hadn't made my rounds to the 2 yards to see what was available. Lucky timing on my part.

I'd already bought 2 cragar 15X10 ss wheels from him for $15 (no rust) with a 14X6 MT cragar style wheel. The other 14X6 had been run over by his loader getting ready to fill the crusher.
