This is a 1 bbl off a 1943 Ford GTB truck 1 1/2 ton flathead 6 cylinder. I need some kind of number for the "auto parts professional" to help him find me a kit. Kit part number would be super nice. thanks, overspray
Carb was used on Ford sixes with minor mods roughly 1941-1951. C&G Ford parts has a kit for it. NAPA online doesn't show one, but that doesn't mean much; if you can find an elderly counter person who knows how to work a "catalog", I'm pretty sure Echlin and Standard will have kits for it. Close relative of V8 94 carb, but with different power valve.
Your "G" engine would have used a carb. with a 1 7/16 in.throttle plate and no markings opposite the "Ford" script on the float bowl. The 1949 to 1951, "H" motors used a Holley built 1 9/16 in. throttle plate carb marked "7HT" and "8HA" on the bowl opposite the "Ford" script. They also had a vacuum fitting for the dist. advance. Both "G" and "H" carbs are commonly refered to as "HOLLY/CHANDLER GROVE" carbs. In taking apart one of each, I would agree with Bruce that an all inclusive kit should work for both. Oddly the only difference between the two was that the "G" had a 65 main jet and the "H" had a 64. No way of knowing if either was still factory original. Also there is a fellow on eBay who regularly has rebuild kits, who goes by, "just-talkin".
Overspray, Mac's in Lockport N.Y. has the kit you need for that carburetor. It is part # V9590J or original number is# 7HA-9590. You can reach them at 1-800777-0948. the Dickster
Ford produced small overhaul manuals for that carb and for the 6-cyl engine. Possibly available in repro from the rest places. Seek out Portrayal press--there's a very good chance they have the shop and overhaul manuals for the entire vehicle in reprint. The Ford military manual from WWII are the very best--their 1942 sedan manual is THE early Ford shop manual to have, and I'm sure the truck manuals are as good.
