Ran across this flathead in a junk yard a couple of months back. It's in a early 50's Lincoln four-door. I know exactly squat about flatheads, so what am I looking at and would it be worth saving?

Big Lincoln and big Ford truck flathead. I think they were 317's. Hard to find speed parts for, and also regular rebuild parts as well. Not recommended for a hot rod project.

337 to be correct. If its a "baby-Lincoln" it shares the body with the Merc but frame is 3" longer than the Merc. The engine looks like it need somne work and parts for the 337 are quite expensive, not many speed parts available. Very few parts interchanges with the Ford/Merc. So there are a few better choices for a flathead...

337 2 versions Ford and Lincoln and i think 1950 Lincoln had Hyd Lifters..They weight more than a Hemi

If its free take it other wise you are very limited on any kind of speed parts and the weight to HP ratio is well...lol

heres an old homemade Tri Power unit for one

Sounds like I'd be better off leaving this one alone. Thanks for help.
