Ok, I know I've seen one of these on here before. I got this thing given to today. Not sure what I'll end up doing with it if anything. It does have a Ross steering box though, is it the same steering box everyone wants on there rpu? What the hell is this thing?
**** is that a bike seat to sit on while driving it? Talk about a numb *** if you had a long trip to make.
Cool score. When can I see it? Where is it? What are your plans? Lord knows you need another project. If it ever needs a new home, I'm a buyer.... JH
****, and I thought I was pretty close by thinking early divco. I guess this is why I'm a beginner. Thats pretty bad*** though. I'd get it in flat black primer, and then have some catchy cartoon character on the side. We've got a 47 divco breadtruck from the helm's bakery that has a cartoon dipiction of my father holding a moldy loaf of bread, and a rotten cupcake. Then in goldleaf it says "Mouldy J Mildew's Baked goods" So something like that. Maybe something profane.
Harrison, not sure what the plans are yet. I still need to get it home. it's up towards the Dragon. I wont part it out. That thing is so cool. Might have to make it a Greazy club project. We can haul a BBQer and the beer coolers in it to the rod runs. Might have to put the HEMI in it haha Jonnycola, have any pictures of your Divco? We have one.
ratster the ad is one I scanned. the year is '46. They were used alot as ice cream and popcorn trucks.
hey thats a cool truck! the outside has style, but the inside is QUITE simpler lol! Looks like the dash could double as a work bench!
I read somewhere that the postal service used them also.If I remember right it said they were made in Indiana.
Well, that thing is cool. Here is one kind of similar i saw at the Frog Follies in Evansville IN. Nick
Yeah, I'll dig one up and throw it on here. Nothing scanned. its a 47 flat front, formerly used by the helms bakery in California. pretty cool rig. Someone realized the old four banger ****ed, so they put in a later ohv four from late fifties or mid sixties....not quite sure. Other than that it is pretty much stock, rebuilt and then the custom paintwork. So what year do you have? Any pictures?
[ QUOTE ] Wish I could help you haul it home, but my shop truck is not up to the task yet.... Later, JT. [/ QUOTE ] Jason, I got that thing from Greazy Darrel and he's goona haul it to the shop for me. Thanks guys! Gotta love the HAMB now i know I have a 1946 Marmon Harrington Deliverall, cool. Now what to do with it
[ QUOTE ] Now what to do with it [/ QUOTE ] Here's an idea..... let it sit a while, realize you already have too many projects, and then give it to me. Check your PM's. I need an engine builder I can trust. Know of one? JH
Here's what a guy did with a similar truck (mail truck)...sure don't have to worry about your feet getting cold drivin' this baby...
If you don't want it post it on the HAMB for sale. Donate $50.00 to Ryan, and keep the rest. It's to cool not to build. Here's what I just picked up. Dean
jonnycola heres a pic of the divco we have, by the way i'm ratsters brother.. not sure on year we think mid 60's
I'll tell you what, First of all that thing is really cool. Second, what I'd do is make it a vendor truck, Ice cream, Popcorn, or corndogs....and take it to the Hamb drags to feed the Hambers with....that is cool, you gotta make it live again.
One word... ZINGER! That would look great all cartoon-ed out like a zinger!! You gotta do it...c'mon... DO IT!! Think..."I Scream Van". I was gonna paint a cool weirdo with a ice cream cone with fingers and bones sticking out of it and a kid looking at him and crying his little eyes out, on my van when I re-paint it...I think it would suit your van even better!
hehehehe, dont put tahoe seats in it or put DUBS on it or they will label you a gold chainer that thing is kool, I was beginning to think there wasnt any good stuff still hidin in the woods around here (E TN)...
