Hi friends, I just bought this body yesterday from a seller in beautiful Iowa and brought it home. He seems to think it is a Willys-Knight. I am not so sure. It does not have much if any inner structure so it must have had alot of wood in it. Appears to have have a side mount spare tire on p***enger side judging by the hole in the cowl. Doors appear to have been shortened in length so it must have been a long wheelbase car. Has cowl vent on top like so many others including some Fords, Mopars, Es***, GM, and etc. My young friend Tim (tbraginton on the Hamb) and I are building a hot rod roadster. That is to say HE is doing the building and I supply the parts. We will probably use this body unless he doesn't like it for some reason. Anyway, I would like to know your opinions as to what it actually is. Thank you in advance. <center> <br /><br /> <br /><br /> </center>

Hi Guys. Can't help with the ID, but wanted to say , I thinks it a good thing you are doing with Tim.. I hope he keeps up his end of the deal! That body will be a great start . You're a good man Mr Proverty....
Thank you.Tim is indeed working on this project. I took him a nice later model Flathead V8 recently and toured his rented shop space near the college he is attending. You can read more about Paul and Tim's excellent adventure here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=348762&highlight=mcpherson&showall=1
I don't know what it is, but with 32 lower patch panels and wheelwells along with a flat firewall, it would make a pretty convincing deuce double.
Here is a link to more stuff about Tim learning how to restore cars at college, it's a must read.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=309852&highlight=mcpherson&showall=1
This is ID'ed as a 31 willys firewall and cowl vent look similar. even has the little rectangular plates on the upper portions and the hole placement seems close.
its willys of some sort i cut up a 29 whippet sport coupe and the fire wall, cowl vent, and that dashboard band all look the same had that same strip of holes and everything. too bad i just got rid of 2 dash boards 2 weeks ago i wouldve given you one....
Very cool little roadster.Have your Iowa guy look for the frame.Willys frames were used on the lakes.A good example would be the Spaulding Brothers Roadtser. One of my all time favorites.
I was going to say chevy,But im probably wrong. Alll I can say is Buy it and build it. Has very nice lines to it. And looks like Model a patch panels will work.Nice start.
good find, Paul. You sure do have a nose for good stuff. Or is this another one of you little marketing ploys?
holy **** dude, I just brought one home today too. No clue what it is exactly, but looks very similar to yours. The car had wooden wheels and a rear mounted gas tank, 4cyl engine, had a spare tire mounted on the p***enger side of the cowl, VIN tag on the rear of the frame.
Cool! Small world huh? I took this photo from your thread. 1930 Whippet. Part of the Willys family of cars. <center> <br /><br /> </center>
No Bob, I would only sell it if Tim doesn't want it. I doubt that will happen. I will leave the marketing to YOU. I'm not up on that kind of stuff like you car dealers are.
I am certain that paul will not be interested in selling this body because I now have just the canvas I need to create my masterpiece! Ha ha Well I at least have a good starting point to work from.
