History Help Identify this Truck

My friend’s father recently passed away. The father had an auto repair business in San Antonio starting back after the Korean War. The family story was that the father used a 1936 Ford truck as his wrecker in the business. Recently the family was cleaning out the father’s house and ran across this photo of the original wrecker. It’ most definitely not a 36 Ford and I can’t identify in myself.

I am trying to identify the truck from my friend. My Ford records don’t show anything like this truck. Please help me identify the year and model. My friend’s family will appreciate knowing what it really is.

 

I call a '38-39 Ford one ton, maybe a 3/4 ton, but can't be positive when that model came out.

 

Diddo on 38-39. Do a google search, you'll see what I mean.

 

Looks like maybe '38-9, looks pretty close..

its looks to be 38'-39' ford the doors have that body line and seem is on front of cab.

 

Bet on Dodge. Basic lines sure look right for mopar.

 

Not to be argumentative, but Dodge did not have full-floating hubs with the smaller "trucks".

 

look at the hood...see the gills/vents...make it a 39 or 40 for me...
