I went to the swap meet today and picked up what I believed to be 16" Ford beauty rings. The rings look like these: I was going to use them on 40 ford steelies but when I got them home they turned out to be for 15" wheels. What were these originally intended for? The seller told me they were 16" Should I try to get my money back or just **** it up?
Late 50s early 60s Volvo P444 & Amazon or just about anything 15 inch. Standard equipment when going to a swapmeet is a tape-measure in Inch and CM.
48 Mercury had 15" rims. They will fit 50-56 Ford & Mercury'salso. Pretty common.Sell them or get your money back.Always carry a tape measure to a swap meet. Its like EBAY - lots of sellers don't have a clue what they are selling.
I appreciate everyone's help and advise. I spoke to the seller today and he apologized for the inconvenience. I guess he had a pile of 15" and 16" on the shop floor, and he mistakenly grabbed the wrong ones as he was packing up for the swap. He is going to refund me my money and take them back. I do carry a tape with me, however I was unsure what the real McCoy would measure at. I now know that 16" rings are 16 1/2" OD.
