I have a Ford 3 speed transmission that I believe to be from the 50s that someone put a 60s style shifter on. Can anyone tell me what this came out of (car, truck), or what year? What it's worth? The numbers on the side are AF 7006 D 18 Attached are some photos. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

The 23 spline input shaft says 1958-62. That is a full size car 3 speed. Beyond that you'd have to come up with more casting numbers. There was usually a different gear ratio for the trannies behind a Six vs a V8, but otherwise they're interchangeable. The same transmission (more or less) was used in the long wheelbase F-100 pickups, but they all used the larger input shaft (1-3/8" x ten spline). So, we know your transmission came from a car.
I agree with Mac VP on the 23 spline head gear being for a 58 and up. However accordiing to my Ford Crosss Reference book, it comes up as part# B6A7006-B. That is a 56 ******. Perhaps it has been rebuilt using a 58 and later head gear. Also I can find no application for that B6A part number in any of my Ford car OR truck books. Bit of a mystery?? Oldmics
Update The B6A 7006-B is the part number for the transmission case . That case was used for 4 different applications in the late 1955 model year as well as in the early 1956 machines. It was behind the 223-6 cyl and 272 engines in late 1955 production as well as being used in the 223-6 cyl and 272 engine produced in the early 1956 model year. Still that 23 spline head gear is a mystery. I believe its a ******* ****** ! Oldmics
The transmission came out of an 52 Ford F1 that was originally a column shift. They had but a 289 into it and I ***umed this was the original trans that they hooked a floor shifter too.
