Posted this on the Barn a few days ago, but got no responses, so figured I would try here. As I finish up my flathead build, I’m starting to get to a few “leftover” parts. Found this item and have no idea what it’s for. I wrote on the bag it might be for the crank or generator pulley, but I’m sure now that is not the case. Any ideas? Should mention it is a C59A engine.

  2. Looks like a dowel pin except for the flat section. As in line up the gearbox onto the back of the engine.

The engine did come with a transmission. Never thought about it being from the trans. It was a heavy-duty truck one at that as it was used as some sort of industrial engine. It’s flat on four sides. It’s starting to bug me not knowing where it goes.

Could it be the pin from the steering wheel lock in the column drop that's activated by the key? I don't remember seeing any pin like that in a 59A engine. Take into consideration that I don't remember a lot of things these days, though. :(

Sure would be nice to know the size. Is it half inch long or six inches long. To me it has the same shape as some speedo and tach cable ends.

Some more pics with tape. I’m starting to wonder if this is off a T5 trans.

  7. I've been inside several flatheads and have never seen any parts that resemble that. The only thing I have never pulled off of the block is the tube that runs down the middle of the lifter valley, but even that is a stretch that it would be from there.

    Is it solid or hollow?
