Pure curiosity. They were on the car when it was pulled out of a barn, now they're going to a local shop to roll projects around on.

Over the past couple years people have stabbed at vintage salt flat wheels, trailer wheels, and most recently wires missing... well.. the wires.

Now I'm really wondering, not becasue they're worth anymore than their weight.. But just because.

without looking closely, I would guess an early halbrand magnesium copy. for those that want to look like they have race wheels without the magnesium price

  3. If they are chrome, they look like some of the old "wire basket" wheels that used a cover over them to look like wire wheels...held on by a cap in center
    that poked thru from behind....

Fake wire wheels, had a wire basket thingy that fitted on to them. Set came on a toyota I bought for the Ex 30 years ago.

Steel or aluminum? If they're steel (kind of looks like some rust there), they look like 70's basket wires without the wire "basket" insert. If they're aluminum or mag, I haven't a clue.

My buddy has a '55 Tbird with the wire wheel combo, he runs it sans wires.
Another local has a late 60' Mopar with the same setup.
    Looks cool IMO.
