I recently located a old olds engine coupled to what i believe to be a 40's model 3 speed ford truck transmission. I feel that this may become the drive train for my next rat rod. the motor has an integrated bellhousing with a adapter for the transmission. the letters cfd and 563922 are cast into it. it also has a cast 4bbl intake. any help would be great. thanks
That's funny, I've got a 55, 324 with the same numbers on it Look on the drivers side between #1 and #3 there is a pad there with a serial number on it. Also look on the heads at the center exhaust port, if it's a 55 it should have the number 8 cast into it. Sounds like another rocketeer in training!
i will check the head asap. thanks for the help. I figure the motor to be pre 1960? It runs like a top. the guy pulled it out of a 48 ford truck. he's going the sbc route. I don't mind though. he said he would sell me everything but the carb for $250. its even got a new clutch in it.
I can't really pass it up. one mans junk is another mans treasure. I just hope that I get lucky and it is a year that makes a decent amount of power.
