Can't take that uncomfortable Chrysler middle van seat anymore, it sucks. I'm going to install a Glide seat and change the puk green interior to black, my dilemma is do I want leather or vinyl? VINYL WOULD BE ABOUT A GRAND LESS, any feedback and pictures would greatly appreciated, thanks DSC02127.JPG

image.jpeg I put vinyl in my 37 and am very happy with it. Most people think it is leather anyway. Save the grand you'd spend on leather or blow it on go fast parts.

If you have a Tandy Leather store in your area go check them out. I was over in Portland buying leather for some hood straps and they had huge black leather hides for 179 bucks!! You would probably only need 3 of them. At that price the choice for me would be pretty easy. Unfortunately I'm going brown leather and they weren't that cheap.

Velour? Holy flash back batman! Glad you went vinyl, looks very nice.

I'm new to doing my own but if you look at the swatches/samples you can find vinyls that look and feel just like leather for a lot less money. Look at your local Craig's List under "free stuff" and there is always a few free leather couches for the taking. A big couch will yield enough distressed leather to do a roadster.

I go with vinyl....there are different grades, from economy right on up......talk image.jpeg to your upholstery guy and ask about grade quality. I used the highest grade they make and it makes a huge difference and the difference is only a few bucks a yard....labor is the same.

Naugahyde is the only way to go on an open car. Went with leather first time around and blew two grand when it shrunk and water stained. Look closely and you can see the built in lumbar support. The Naugahyde actually looks better than the leather image.jpeg

For my cars, I like vinyl. a lot more color and texture selection. I did leather on one car 20+ years ago, and can't complain about the quality, but price was so much more.

Thanks for the input, I'm pretty sure I will do the seat in leather and every thing else in vinyl and the money I save I will go ahead and do the trunk also. Goes to the upholstery shop in 2 weeks and I will post before and after shots.

    Hi Rob

I did my 78' Ranchero in leather with 85' Endo seats, just cant beat leather plus its cooler on warm days DonRancheroSeat.JPG

  25. I got an older friend that swears by "pleather".

I normally lean toward vinyl. but I think it depends on two things depth of wallet and the build.

These are the seats that I am planning to use in my A sedan.

The problem with Naugahyde is the prices have increased significantly as Nauga's are nearing extinction.

My ultra leather interior has no cows in it, but you cant tell the difference by touching it.

I routinely buy high quality, durable 55 square ft hides for 275.00 each shipped with over 50 color choices. I'll stick with leather.
