Please help me i.d. what this old stock car started its life as. sorry for the shitty pics obviously they are old. but they are all i have found so far. in the first pick the motor looks like an olds rocket, but im trying to determin if the second pics is the same car or not. THANKS FOR THE HELP.
The roof line in that second photo looks like a mopar, maybe 53 dodge. The second photo is a HT the first one is a post but the dent in the RR fender looks the same. and the number on the door looks the same. BB
One of the best ways to ID the old iron, is to pull oyut the sterring column and look at the numbers either stamped or marked (like a marker or grease pencil) on the rod itself. Failing that, you will have to sit down with old car books and compare the window opening, both front and rear. Often times, the old stockers didn't retain any of the stock running gear. By the looks of the first pics, even the front hubs have been swapped for beefy truck units. Front and rear windshield opening units, however, don't really ever change. Throw some more NEW pics on here and I'll have a look. I have 37 car books with front andf rear shots of the bodies. My buddy has another 60 or so.
Ive been looking through all the olds threads on here, and it seems to me the first pics is a old due to the rocket engine and i cant determine what year but im leaning towards 51. The second pic to me looks like the roof line and window openings look like 53, with the shape of the rear. This was my grandpas car and my uncles and i were trying to figure out what it was. The car itself is long gone.
The first is an Olds, '52-'53. The other one is a '53 or '54 Dodge, would have had a 241 Hemi in it new.
I think your right, i just looked over a bunch of mopar pics of 53' coronets. And it looks to be what she was. COOL GUYS THANKS.
