Like the title says this was sitting in my 54 project car along with a set of bumpers for a vw bug. I have no idea what its from but maybe someone on here does? IMG_20171208_213926.jpg IMG_20171208_213930.jpg IMG_20171208_214015.jpg IMG_20171208_214033.jpg

The stamping on the bracket which is upside down is U555. Anyone have any thoughts on it?

but yeah, if you drag the bumper out and set it so it's in the orientation it would be on a car, like in my photo, and take a picture of it, then we could easily compare it.

The OP's bumper and the one pictured here look the same to me. I did note two different bumpers used on '51 Mercs, the most obvious difference being horizontal ribs in the center are on one version, no ribs on the other. Also, the contoured lower section of the face bar on the ribbed center bumper fades away as it approaches the ends, not so on the smooth center section...the contour follows all the way around the face bar corners. At least, that is how it appears to me.

Might get a better look if it was put in the corner of a closet, turn the lights out....

'51 Ford front bumper does not have the same dents where the guards bolt on.

With the exception of the center area it does pretty much look like a bumper off a 51.... Here is a photo of a 51. looks like it to me minus the bumper guards.
