This pic was taken in 1938. Thats my dad in it. It was painted to look like my grandfathers 1926 Miller 91. I would like to know the manufacturer of this little go kart.
Heres the Miller with Duke Nalon. This was the car Norm Batten caught fire in during the '27 indy 500.
Found this on the Briggs and Strattons site. The body is a little different. But the grill shell is the same. Thats the one part I need for the restoration. It is the most damaged. The bearing blocks the grill shell and the spring holders for the rear axle were all cast aluminum. I got the grill shell back together but I'm missing the verticle parts.
Although different in some respects, there are several key points which appear to be the same. The grille, obviously, but the frame just beneath the grill, the staggered rivets in the side of the frame rail, midway, and the rear spring mounts. It would seem that your Dad's kart could have been either a different year model or perhaps a modified version of the one you found on the B&S site. In any case, cool machines that I would have "killed for" in the '50s when I was a kid. I tried my hand at building something similar, mostly of wood, but my lack of tools, experience and money doomed it to 'coaster' status. Ray
