Out searching for cars/parts I came across this old axle. Im hoping someone in HAMBland will tell me what its for and if it has any worth under a hot rod. I didnt get any measurements off of it, just pics. I didnt see any Ford stampings or anything to help id its origin. Is it worth saving, or let it sit ?
    Thanks fellas

28-31 Model A, worth $25-$40 depending on how nice or what part of the country you live in. It's a good axle for dropping, grab it.

Thank you, I think If I can get it cheap I'll put it in my own hot rod parts pile. Have to look around a little further for a frame.

Since were already here, I did buy this old chromed tube axle setup while I was there. Any ideas on this ? Measures about 47 hub to hub, neat drilled drums. Sorry for the bad pics. 20170205_221257.jpg 20170205_221210.jpg 20170205_221103.jpg

That A axle is no good for dropping since it has holes drilled in the web. An experienced dropper told me that they will be a stress point and ripe for cracks in the heat-n-drop process.

The chrome axle has 40 Ford spindles and brakes on it.

Early round back spindles with the steering arms still intact, good stuff. Early juice brake backing plates and drums, also good stuff. The axle is a custom fabbed one, from ?

Guy said it was under an old Ford someone bought and left this behind ? It looked good enough I wasn't leaving behind. Thanks again for the info
