    Devil,

I don't consider you racist at all. I think that's a pretty complicated and serious label to attach to anyone.
I feel your biggest problem is you really don't want to sell the car.
I somewhat understand your feelings. This subject was discussed before at a time when I had some vehicles for sale.

What I don't get, and this is the third or fourth thread I've seen about this, is that once you sell something (You take payment of some sort for the product) You have no say in what the new owner does with it. Why worry about it.

He can buy it and burn the damn thing to the ground right in front of you and it makes no difference.

I know... if it was something you built, or had forever or had special meaning it would ****.
My dying father gave me the car I have now, I would rather die that sell it.
But if I made that choice I would have to get over it the moment that as was placed.

You cannot sell something and then expect it to be built a certain way or have it stay in a certain place.
    I don't get it...

Y'all don't know Mel, he's no racist but he does have his ******* in a wad.

Dude you sold your car, what happens from that point on is out of your control, bottom line.
I think if the person who gets your car gives it the love it deserves, what difference does it make where they're from?
I betcha Mel wouldn't be as worked up if the car was sold to a German, but America also fought them. It's that the Japanese look different and there's a perception that they've driven up the prices of precious Americana, from Levis to '50s furniture, so they're our enemies a second time around.
A friend of mine sold a total POS hot rod in the earlier days of this craze to a Japanese guy for $18,000, he couldn't even have gotten $4,000 for it over here.

He who has the bucks wins, But don't for a second think that that person's p***ion doesn't match the content of his wallet.

FWIW, I once sold a Caddy to a guy from Switzerland and I was deeply regretful, not because it left America but because the guy smelled so ****ing awful. He never changed his clothes once during the week I dealt with him.

Personally, I've never understood "conditions" attatched to the sale of vehicles (or anything else!)...but it's not something I'm new to, either, so I am not completely surprised!

I went to high school with a guy who likes to sell his cars and parts dirt cheap when he needs/wants money for something else. The problem is, he expects you to sell it back to him for the same price (or less) when he changes his mind a week later. I had to tell him a dozen times that I don't run a pawn shop, and if I buy something from him and have no need for it, I will resell it for a fair price...to ANYONE who steps up to pay it!

Some people are funny about the things they sell...and saying things like "you can NEVER resell it for MORE or let it leave this or that geographical area, and you gotta sell it back to me when and if I ever want it again for the same price I sold it to you" cracks me up! Sure, sometimes it's hard to swallow seeing something you cherrish being shipped off to somewhere far away, or watching someone else with a little more patience and skill sell it for a higher price...but that's Life, and Life goes on!

Bottom line, if you love something too much to sell it with no strings attatched...then don't sell it. Take a second job, borrow money, or pimp yourself on 8 Mile! In other words, do what it takes to keep it, because once you sell it...you forfeit all say in it's future, like it or not!

(Oh, and don't even get me started on the Battery Humpers and others who will gladly sell their car, but will stipulate which parts do or do not go with it as you're getting ready to drive away! My favorite cl***ic example being the retards who insist on keeping the battery. May be a local thing, but I've had to deal with countless flakes who say "I want the bat'tree outta the car...that there's a good bat'tree!" What the ****? You want the glovebox door, the left front turn signal and the spark plug outta number three cylinder, too? They're all good as well?!)

    Move on, Bro!

That's funny man, the battery thing, it ain't regional, it's everywhere.

Whilst we're on the subject of ownership here's something that burns my balls. Of all the things in the world that you own, you would think you could sell them as you wish, right? Wrong, Walt Disney World tickets aren't resellable, WTF????? It's blatantly wrong, it's greed of the worst kind and I can't believe it's not against the law.

    Sorry, just venting.

Yeah and some companies now are making SEEDS that won't regenerate, every year farmers have to BUY NEW SEEDS.

    ****in' planned obsolesence in farming.

The world is going to hell in a handbasket, and we haven't seen the half of it yet. Corporations are the ANTICHRIST.

Did you folks know that FANTA orange soda pop was an invention of Coca Cola so they could keep selling coke products to NAZI Germany during the war? IBM punch card machines were used to process the people into the concentration camps. Corporations have no souls, morals, nationality, or religion....they only follow the bottom line.

The vehicle was sold. If you didn't want to sell it, you shouldn't have. If you wanted more money, you should have sold it for more money......
You are the one who decided to give up your pride and joy so you could line the pocket of some realitor.

.....why don't you go buy a Fanta orange and relax. Maybe buy some of those non-resaleable Disney World tickets while you're at it.

I do feel for you man. Hot Rods are about MORE THAN MONEY. When you equate old tin with money, YOU LOSE. PERIOD.

Back in about '88 I built a clean hugger orange '64 Elcamino w/ a badd *** 283 4-speed, it was my first nice car. I went through the tri-5 craze and bought a '55 bel air. A Japaneese exporter guy laid the cash in my hand for the '64 faster than a 20 year old kid can think. He even took it with out the pink as it was locked up in my dads safe. He left me standing in my parents drive way in a HUGE cloud of burning rubber and a hand full of cash. I started getting that same sick feeling, some times you don't want to let go. Later that night he called and said not to bother sending the pink that he totaled it in down town L.A. .... That one never made it over seas. But I will say that I think that the Japaneese love our tin as much as we do and actually have a great talent with it. Hud

You just gotta let it go man - you needed the cash...
Kinda reminds me of what the Diceman once said:
"Little boy blue... So what - he needed the ****in' money!"

  21. I find Rashys post can be cut and inserted in many different topics while still being to the point! I especially like the blame your parents part.

You all know me by now and the way I like to sugar coat things...

    NOT!

    So here it goes...

There are precious few rules here on the HAMB and RYAN is exceedingly lenient.

Still, some people manage to push it and push it, then push it some more, until there is nothing left but delete and/or ban them.

Keep in mind that the posts that may seem fun and light to you may not appear that way to others and when it gets to that stage, and Ryan or one of the other moderators get involved, it's a pain in everyone's collective posterior. These guys have home lives and things they would much rather be doing than babysitting internet tough guys and extreme intellectuals.

And then there are the posts that are started, obviously with the intention of stirring the pot. There's enough drama that comes from posts that weren't intended to start it in the beginning. Do we really need to cultivate more?

In closing, if you get your pee-pee slapped for being a dufus on the HAMB and just need someone to blame.... start with your parents.

    Love RASHY

P.S. this reply was not pointed at anyone in particular. If you think I'm talking about you, yourself, in particular, you're on your own.

  25. You do realize there's cool people in Japan to, right? In fact, their Hot Rod and Chopper appreciation seems to far exceed ours some times. Sad, but true.
