    Numedia is going strong and a nice facility. Beaver Springs has been my home track since 1982. If ya ever get a chance to go to Bruce Larsons open house GO!!! The barn is a museum!!! Can't wait for the York reunion at BSD this year. Maybe I can talk Bob Kulp into bringing some of his dads trophys and the ch***is he has.

    I used to work at Charleston, stock tech line. From the start up to 1960 when Conn. opened. Then worked at Conn for about 12 years. The main strip at RI was for jets, I guess, it was so long you didn't need brakes. And you could get lost with all the interconnecting runways.

    There was a drag strip located in Hatfield, PA. It was short-lived, as the town was close by. I think it was on the same property as the oval tracks that were there earlier. It was before my time, but I remember seeing "Hatfield Drag-O-Way" cl*** winner trophies at my uncles house.

    My old man dragged Westhampton back in the late 50's / early 60's. He still has some of his old trophies - I need to get those and / or take pictures.

    Later on, he and his cousin had an Anglia...not sure of which cl*** it ran, but they ran it into the mid-60s before family obligations took over.

    I'd love to find that Anglia - I'll see if I can get any info from my pops on Westhampton.

    There were also 1/8 mile drags in Norwood, MA. Charlestown ran for about 6-8 years. They have had reunions in R.I. Not sure where it will be this year. I remember seeing the Ramchargers there in about 61 or 62. There is a story about Charlestown in the NHRA Museum in Pomona.

    I thought there was a strip @ Norwood, myold man used to run there, Sanford, Epping and Conn, back in the day. I can ask him about more. I have some stills, but no posters from these tracks.

    THE MENARD BROS. RACE TEAM.
    Here are some photos of my friends 57 Chevy called Mr Freeze. They started with a 283 automatic in G stock, then with a transmission change ran in E stock. And then a motor change to 396 big block ran in 57 modified, then they changed to a Hillborn injection and eventually to a Crowler injection and cut off the front end and put a straight axle the car raced in C Gas, also known as altered. The team travled around the Northeast racing and winning at tracks such as New England Dragway NH. and Lebanon Valley Dragway NY. and Long Island Dragway NY. and Connecticut Dragway CT. and Sanford Dragway ME. and Orange Airport MA.
    In 1972 The team got a sponsor, United Movers, that purchased a brand new Chevy Nova and **** built a race ch***is and it was powered by a 427 big block and raced in Pro Stock running in the low 10's.

    NY National Speedway closed I believe in 1984

    Westhampton went through several name changes and sadly closed about 10 or so years back.

    Islip Speedway closed the drag strip after the 1972 season

    Outstanding work on the posters, Are you selling copies? I am interested in some. As one HAMB'r mentioned, as known in the 50's, The Presque Isle Timing ***ociation south of Erie, PA. It is now called Lucky Drag City (luckydragcity.com) They claim to be the oldest strip in the states. Also, QuakerCity Dragway in Salem, Ohio has been running since the 50's. The founder,**** Mossey,died a few years back but I can put you in touch with his widow.

    not terribly off topic, i don't think. it's cool that you brought this up again. such cool history to be learned about. i just wish there was MORE information out there. it seems to be leaving us at a rapid rate, as the old timers leave us too.

    this place opened in 1958 was 1/4 mile but they shortened it so the big boys could still run full on and stop. there has to be a lot of history there but i don't know any

    Thanks for the location Little Wing. I went to Historic Aerials and found a photo of the Flemington Dragway from 1963;

    And for sure, it's still there today!
