You may want to change the ***le of the thread to include that you are looking for some photoshop help. Usually there are a few guys right away that help out but they may have not opened this thread thinking you are just looking for opinions rather than actaul photoshop work.

I'm a fan of two tone on the early cars. I can't do photo shop, so here's my combination. Maybe a rose colored body with maroon fenders. Good luck. Picking colors is the hardest thing for me too.

  8. That's gotta be it, THANKS I'll change it.

  9. How about black fenders and running boards (and top) with maroon body, or any other darker color for the body.

Ok, here's an idea....howabout Audi TT aviator's grey...it's that plastic looking color....
light grey.... I always thought I'd want to do a roadster or a coupe in that grey color with zinc chromate on the firewall and interior....zinc chromate is the color of the interior in the old ww 2 bombers...throw in some basball glove leather wrapped bucket seats....

here's the audi aviator's grey...pardon the off topic car

I hate to say this because were dealing with the same delema as in my thread about my 58 impala. I grew up with cars on the brain from a very young age and I can tell you without a doubt if I hate your car it would be Gloss Black!

But its been done a million times, thats my problem, I hate looking like everyone else. If black wasnt cool no one would have done it in the first place

  12. Well you haven't been around very long then. Its a very old saying well used by rodders around this nation.
But Josh I never knew that they weren't color photos until recently.

Ok no offenmse intended but I've been scrolling through this post and its becomming very plain that a lot of you fellas have your roots in street rodding.

Now I have nothing personal against the '70s up street rodding scene but we are supposed to be promoting traditional here. Some of the color scemes are pretty cool but just not what you would expect on a traditional hot rod or jalopy.

Anyway carry on I just thought someone should point that out.

Never owned a street rod....did own a mess of air cooled vws...so..... porkn******....
    What's your suggestion?

  14. Wasn't talking directly to you friend but if the shoe fits I guess. Your was just the last post and I didn't want to single anyone out but lump everyone into the same catagory. Those who have no reason to be offended won't be.

I guess what I'm saying is that although some of the color combinations suggested seem pretty tasty they are what you would expect to see at a Good Guys or an NSRA event and not on the streets anytime between say 1920 and 1970 (I'm giving a slight buffer zone here as the excepted cutoff date for traditional rods is the beginning of the muscle car era but there were still fellas building trad rods in that time period they just weren't considered in vogue). Our main focus here is Traditional Rods and Customs, I'm sure that there are Street Rod forums out there I just haven't ever looked for one.

BTW the grey and primer thing isn't all bad the audi color resembles an older Ford color all except for the plastic look. That's just common to modern paint, but ya gotta use what you can get I suppose.

Oh for suggestions I would suggest that you don't wear your feelings on your sleeve. Just because the boss doesn't call us hoodlums any more doesn't mean that we have changed.

The dangers of lack of tone conveyed through the internet...
I was not hurt....Honestly I just wanted to know your suggestions...
I'm a young guy...only 32. On my second vintage American ride....I got into the idea of combining colors and textures to create a vintage feel...
light grey...with the ww2 styled green...and a nice set of brown leather wrapped bomber styled seats....just feels right... I was never around in the old car scene....most of the photos are black and white... :D
Hard to find good references....I guess I was just curious as to what a true period correct color scheme woulda been....we can all agree that flat black and red rims are kinda played out...I'm listening...and honestly I don't ever forget what those with more experience teach..

Can anyone just photoshop the car for him. I get to the point as well where I just want to see what it might look like. painting a car is not like changing the hubcaps. "oh i dont like that ill just change it back". and another thing about paint/traditional. they had metalic, pearl, glitter, flat, in just about every color you could imagine. im only 32. no where near living in the 50's. but i do have just about ever hotrod mag, actual home footage and a handfull of friends in there 70's and 80's that was there and i get my info from.

i can not wait to see all the above in a pretty little box with quotes below it. should be fun.

any ways oldschool 66. have you seen the 32 roadster built in 57 that is painted metalic light blue, chrome steel rims, white interior, white walls. pretty sharpe. and not "played out"(the color) ill look for pics. i cant photoshop for ****.

  21. Thanks rrayne, thats all I'm asking, but I can't do it, I have seen that 32 and it is killer but I'm looking for something I can touch up easy if I have to. I plan to drive this alot and it's gonna get some bruises im sure. I appreciate the replies from everyone so far, alot of good ideas that I haven't thought about.

EVERY color is played out. There's only so many, and we've seen 'em all, so pick your favorite. Copper won't go with a grey interior. '66 Pontiac maroon would be a nice change of pace.
