Having a heck of a time trying to dial this engine in. Running 2 Holley 94's/edelbrock intake(not super)and tried multiple combinations of jets and power valves. Starts up fine and idles well but when I get it on the road it pops from time to time. I see or feel any vacuum leaks. Spark plugs were on the whiter side but having increase jet size, they are i.e. Blksh?? Any suggestions fellas ???? ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1450381440.629840.jpg

  2. I wish I could help you here. My only suggestion is to take a can of WD-40 or starting fluid and look for a leak.

remember that you are no doubt running gasohol and the plugs are not going to read the same as with pure gasoline.

First, what Model carbs (marked on left side of bowls) and what size of jets have you been working with?

If it randomly and occasionally pops while at a steady cruise I'd be looking at my ignition system. Advance weights hanging up maybe? What type ignition are you running?

Bruce, I'm away from the vehicle at the moment but from I recall one of the 94's has a ford marking and the other 94 does not have a marking

As far as ignition, I'm running a vintage dual point Mallory dizzy (good points and condenser). 6 Volt system

I have 51 jets, 1.5 power valve in back carb 3.5 in front carb. Also, how did you sync carbs. I abc both carbs idle stops all way off hold both fully shut and tighten linkage to throttle shafts. Then equally adjust idle stops to they open equally enough to idle. Works every time for me.

I'll try that power valve and jet combo and see how it goes. I used a basic carb synchronizer. I'm trying to vision your method of synchronizing the carbs. ???
