I'm in desperate need of some help or information. The story starts just over 2 years ago. I brought one of Moon's new fuel injection kits at a cost of over $3000, dealt with Ken who at that time was working at Moon. (real nice and helpful guy) brought the kit home and proceeded to install it, to cut a long story short could not get the car to run correctly. I then took it to a fuel injection specialist payed another $800 dollars and he couldn't even get it to work. After a number of phone calls and e-mails to Ken he agreed to replace it with their new kit. so i sent it back another $100 shipping. I waited and waited then after a month i spoke to Ken who said no problem it's being sorted, a month later still nothing. E-mailed Ken who now was working at Barry White's, he said he would speak to Chico and get it sorted. Another month went by still nothing. So i spoke to Chico who said he would replace at a charge of $1700, you can imagine my reply. He agreed to replace it free of charge. waited and waited. e-mails with no reply. 1 year 10 month's later i managed to get in contact with him and explained i would be coming over again in October and i would collect it then, No problem was the reply (yeah right) so 2 month's later i gave him a call to say i would be calling round in 4 days to pick it up. Walked in 4 days later to be told it wasn't ready come back tomorrow. Returned the next day (which was our last day) only to be fobbed off again. He said it would be sent out within 2 weeks. 2 Months later still no word. Have since tried to contact him asking for a refund with no reply. So 2 years 2 months later here i am. You might think that i should have done more before no but i am the type of guy who try's to give people a chance to sort it out hence why i haven't posted anything about it here before.

But i have reached my limit. So what can i do now. HELP HELP PLEASE HELP.

  5. Diplomacy; Get three of your friends, big dudes, to dress in slacks a little short, with white sox and black loafers. T-shirts with collarless sports jackets, a little too small with sleeves a couple of inches above the wrist.. Have them go in ahead of you, and when offered help, have them say they are waiting for a friend. When you go in, look at them, nod, but don't talk to them. Then state your case again, wait, and after being given the run around, (we assume), ask to talk to the supervisor. Tell whoever, that you want to see your unit. If you don't get any satisfaction, make it obvious that you know the three guys, leave with them and say something like, so the people can hear you, that you guess 'WE'll have to come back tomorrow.

Jim if you remember i was there when you handed over that large sum for something that never performed as was promised, if i remember correctly you were fucked around right from the start.........to the point of having to go back there just before you flew home. I do remember clearly you making several phone calls just so you could collect the goods before you left.
I don't think you are in the wrong at all, i too would have given them more time to sort things out because at the end of the day you just wanted the system to work as described!

Please is anyone in the know who maybe able to help Jim out here!!!

    Kev.

Sounds like a case of international fraud. Get a letterhead from interpol and scare the refund out of them.

From the stories I have heard Dean Moon was no saint... And he had a rubber checkbook so I doubt they are running it much differant than he was in the later years.

What's the scoop on these things--do they just not work? I just read the article in Rod and Custom about it, and it's a mickey mouse lookin' piece of gear. The idea of throttle bodies shaped like 97s is cool, but that plenum they show Ken and Chico installing looks like a piece of junk.

Lots of bitchin',not much help so far. I Googled the Better Business Bureau for that area, without any luck. I think you need big time help. I found this e-mail looking for the California Department of Consumer Fraud. This woman is the Director of the California Department of Consumer Affairs of the State of California Attorney General's Office. Write to her and ask for her help or what to do. Keep us posted.

Is this for a small block chevy? I'm intrigued. I don't know anything about this setup but i used to build stand alone injections in the early 90's. I would love to have a look at it if it weren't for you being so far away. If you run out of options I would take a look at it just for the experience.

I noticed they don't mention how the motor runs after the installation job in that Rod N Custom article.

I would think that if there was anything to these things(in other words, if they worked as advertised) it would have included some sort of review.

Or a head to head comparison with the same motor sporting a set of real strombergs compared to their EFI units...

Either way, I wish you the best of luck getting your money back. It's unfortunate that you won't be able to get your time and effort back, though.

    What about class-action lawsuits?

I'm sure you're not the only one who had these torubles with their system. Maybe you could get afew of the other victims... ahem... customers together and sue for your refunds??? Just a thought.

    Good luck.

  18. Doesn't that just suck! You paid more than good money for one of the most expensive induction systems out there . . . and they've never taken care of you. I'd first of all document ALL aspects of the transaction -- with any receipts, communications, eMails, etc.. Then I'd send a registered letter with a return receipt of some sort to them -- to document the whole issue. In the letter, clearly state what it is you want them to do -- which to me, the only sensible thing is to ask for a full refund . . . of ALL the money you've spent with them. I'd also make it clear that if they don't take care of this in a professional manner . . . in 'X' number of days, that you'll be seeking legal satisfaction. I recommend that you ask for a wire transfer -- so you don't hear about the ole' "checks in the mail" game. They need to understand that it will be more cost effective to take care of your problem, then to ignore it. Bottom line -- they need to clearly understand that you're prepared to take action . . . and it will be easier on them if they do the right thing. Best of luck . . . maybe there are others in the same boat who want to jump on board?

Side Note: I'm from L.A. -- when I first got into flatheads (about 1975 or so), I went to see Dean Moon a couple of times. Hate to talk bad about the guy, but I was never impressed with the quality of any of their parts or the "used car salesman" attitude and load of B.S. that he always slung my way. As a 16 year old, I considered him a big blow hard . . . who talked more than he knew and would gladly empty my wallet of hard earned money. Even at that time, it seemed that most of his former friends . . . (guys like Joe Reath), knew what he was all about. I learned to only deal with Moon when he had a part that nobody else had . . . and I kept my eyes peeled the whole time! Sounds like the new crew learned their "craft" well . . . much to the detriment of their customers! Yikes!

B:eek: eing as I am new here, I shouldn't get in this. I am the trusting type also. When I first started buying speed parts 54,55 time frame. I found you couldn't trust anyone. Over the years, all this ,it'll fit, it'll do this or that,Give you this much more hp, what ever. most of the time its bs. Most parts only fit, work, when the original person that designed it is there. Esp,on headers. just my opinion.

Do exactly what Bored&Stroked recommended. Document EVERYTHING! In your letter, set a deadline and be prepared to BACK IT UP! If they don't deliver, be prepared to sue them. The problem is @ $3,000, your under the small claims limit which means you need to represent yourself. There maybe some exception for foreign residents. I can look into this if you'd like (PM me).

People like this know EXACTLY what it costs to sue and be sued. They know that at $3,000, it makes little economic sense to go full bore with a hot-and-heavy lawsuit. Its a matter of principle; but principle and practice diverge when people are forced to dip back into thier pocket. That's what they're counting on. Know that CA has some of the most favorable consumer rights in the US and if you do chose to go after them, you may be able to nail them good, but it will cost you--at least initially. If you get serious about hiring an attorney, PM me. I'm an attorney in SoCal and can help you find the right person.

I am in the same kinda boat, but for MUCH less money. I ordered some K&N air filters for the little chrome dome air cleaners and have been waiting 4 months. I checked in twice and still get the same answer, "Must be on back order." I don't think I will do business with them in the future. I hope you take action and get your money back.

Seems like all these places trading on a dead hotrodders name are just a bunch of blood sucking corporate faggots.

If a whole bunch of us tell them how it is, they will get the message.
There are nearly 10,000 of us here now, let them know politely that they are just fucking themselves up the arse.
No need to threaten them with anything which will only give you a future headache, just appeal to their better judgement and show that real hot rodding is a worldwide brotherhood, and that they will be judged by their actions, when the wannabes are gone from rodding we will be the market they have left.
Email the URL to this thread to all their addresses and every other hotrod forum on the planet.

Tell them "Hey guys you have just been Wenzeled."

    Here's the one I sent.

Hey guys have you seen this?
Seems your name is mud on the biggest Hot Rod forum in the world.
What gives? Does your 97 injection really work or not. Do your warranties have anything except hot air backing them?
Do ANY of your products have any value?

    Check this link.

Perhaps he will sort out the international problem for Jim with some European diplomacy .:D

  30. Forget about the Better Business Bureau. Contact the state Attorney General's office. I did that with a Ford dealership in Mississippi and before it was over the owner of the dealership was calling me and begging me to call 'em off. I'm not saying you will get the same result out of Cali, but I am almost certain it is a better bet than Better Business Bureau. All they are likely to do is encourage both parties to work it out.
