How’s this for bad luck. I was driving out wheel bearing races on my wagon today and the hammer head broke off and I hear a crash. Yup shattered my tailgate gl***. So any help on locating a replacement would be greatly appreciated. 1962 with tint

  2. If it's flat gl*** your best bet will likely be talking to a gl*** shop.

Or I even thought about Lexan if I can’t find an original gl***. I just hate to lose the original green tint

Or, Owen’s Salvage in Wellington, TX. Bob is a HAMber and great to deal with.

Man thanks for the reminder about Owens.
I've been searching the webs looking for some trim pieces for our Elco.
I was going to post here asking for help & saw this.

Yep, Bob recently came through on a window for my 50 Buick. Shipping was great and price was reasonable for an old piece of gl*** that matched the rest of the original gl*** in the car.

    I can’t remember 100% but I think it’s flat.
Can anyone recommend a custom gl*** cutter?

If it's flat Street Rod Gl*** in Riverside, CA can cut it. He ships all over. IIRC @krylon32 use him for his gl*** needs.

If it's flat, I'd go to the local gl*** shop. They should be able to get the tint you want, cut it and install it in the frame.

I've had the windshield in my Model A replaced a couple times by the local shop, plus the bronze tinted driver's side door gl***.

Well another setback on the gl***. It is not flat so original or maybe a piece of lexan

  18. I'm checking with my gl*** guy. I did something similar to my wagon 20 some years ago. 66 Caprice wagon. The back gl*** tilts forward. I had a refrigerator laying down in the back. Pulled away from a stop sign, fridge slid back and blew out the tailgate gl***. I just kept driving. Should have seen the ladies face behind me. I knew of a 65 wagon in a local wrecking yard with the tailgate gl***. Went the next day and got it. It has some grinder splatter but I was happy to get it. I'll let you know what my gl*** guy says. You might be able to get the tailgate gl*** new, Ill let you know on that too.

  20. Ok, my gl*** guy can cut flat gl***, but he can't get the window new. He said to try a specialty parts house for the gl***. I'll let you know if I find out anything else. What part of Missouri are you in?

Called Auto City Cl***ics and they said a 62 tailgate gl*** is only available used. The search continues.

That is odd as they are the ones that have a new one listed on ebay in the link I posted above

I asked him about that and he said that is a quarter gl*** not tailgate. The ***le says tailgate but description lists it as a quarter gl***

Looks like it might have a slight curve.

I wouldn't go with Lexan either, you'll notice the difference in reflection from the Lexan to the other gl*** in the car.
