have wired many cars buggies ,etc w/alternators. my 27-T w/ 8BA, 6v gen converted to 12v, w/voltage reg.having troble wiring the gen, can someone make a simple drawing of how to wire it??? doesn't want to charge.
Did you polarize the generator. Maybe you know that already. Don't want to step on toes but some people don't know. For those that don't, normally the pole shoes, the field coils, retain enough residual magnetism to charge when the armature starts turning. If a generator has been dis***embled/re***embled, dropped, or has sat for a very long time, it should be polarized before starting the engine. It "forgets" polarity otherwise, and won't charge.
thanks for the tips, maybe i need to polorize it, took 2 years longer to build car than i thought. will check my wiring, thought that is how i had it wired. i'm still wireing w/fuses[gl***], and not to many dif. colored wires, hard to trace problem, still 1959. THANKS amazing how much wire is in a simple 27-T coupe w/flathead,lights,f-100 guage panel, radio, horn....
