Does anybody have any pictures of the first flame job that Von Dutch did? Wasn't it a gullwing mercedes or something like that? I know I've seen it before, but now I don't really remember for sure.

Can't forget this one, HOT ROD magazine's first cover car.

Sorry... another one. These are stored all over the place. Gotta get organised.

  9. I agree.

The ones on that 40 Ford sedan above are killer.

I say go that route and leave the "octopus tentacles" in the history books.

I don't think Dutch did the flames on the Berardini coupe, but he did do the striping.

Dutch was also responsible for the work on George Sein's Barris built 5 window known as "The Flamer". Apparently Dean Jeffries did the striping.

From the same issue of Car Craft and featured on the cover of Rod Builder and Customiser was this roaster belonging to Tom Pollard, which still exists today:

The Flamer is alive and well and owned by a guy I've known for 40 years in Pueblo. Missing all the flames now, but still has the Jeffries striping on the dash. He plans to restore it back to the little pages days, and is making good progress. Never really cared for that type flame design, but it is different.

This is from the the great new interview with Radical Ray Erickson. Here's the link:

I know it is on the front page now, but people in the future might be interested.

Wow, this is an old thread. Perhaps we could discuss early to modern scallops, too? Gary
