Hello everyone, We heve here a 41 Harley Servicar that belongs to a studebaker garage, that is what we can read on the box, its a bit rusty so we cant read all. We are restoring this servicar and looking for the history of this od servi and when we repaint it the old name will be back on the box Does anyone know what the name is from the Studebaker garage where this servicar comes from? For so far i can read : .............LANCIT GARAGE STUDEBAKER ....................SERVICE
Probably "authorized" service on the bottom line. Pretty faded, I can only read about what you have. I'd bet theres some stude club that might be insight... but where to find them I don't know.
look through every state, see if you can find a name of a dealer ending in lancit http://www.studebaker-info.org/Dealers/page1.html
Found this online in a 1937 city directory from Lowell, M***achusetts. Wannalancit Garage, Inc. JAMES A. LOWREY, Mgr. STUDEBAKER SALES AND SERVICE Repairing and Accessories BATTERY SERVICE 19 VARNUM AVENUE PAWTUCKET SQUARE
Here is a site that might have what you are looking for. http://www.studebaker-info.org/Dealers/page1.html A day late as usual.
Thanks a lot everyone, this is the dealer it comes from ! Great work! Found this on the website that was given on the forum http://www.studebaker-info.org/Dealers/wannalancitlowellma1936a.jpg I found a dealer
Glad to help solve the mystery. Actually, I was a bit surprised that I was able to find this information as quickly as I did. But thinking about I believe that odd name helped to bring up more accurate results within the first couple pages of my search. Please post a few more pics of this project as the work continues. And when it comes time to do the lettering I hope you find a real sign painter to do the job and avoid using vinyl.
