I recently purchased a 32' Roadster body that had been stored in a building here in Denver since the 60's. This was one of the cars out of the "Mike Blanchard collection". He had 19 - 32' Fords, 6 - 34' Fords and a few Model A's in the building. Mike passed away a year ago and his son sold all of the cars to a guy in Colorado Springs. They wall went up for sale individually and I was lucky enough to be able to buy this Roadster. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
What I bought was just a body. There was no clue that it ever ran at Bonneville. The sides of the car were painted over with what looked to be rattle can spray paint. The rest of the paint had nice petina so I removed the paint on the sides of the car and found the number 570c on both sides of the car with a 1952 Sta Lube Bonneville Speed Trials logo on the bottom of the cowling on one side. I have done some research and mentioned to people here locally what I had found and with great success I found out that it is listed in the 1952 Bonneville Race program under the name of Debra Kay from Arvada, Colorado. Just 10 minutes from my house.
A friend of mine who collects Bonneville Programs looked through his collection and was able to find it in the 1952 Program. I also mentioned to another friend about it and he thought he might have seen a photo of the car in the past. He helped organize Cal Kennedy's photo's of "The last surviving crew member of the Kenz Leslie Streamliner Team". That is where he remembered seeing a picture. He promised me that he would borrow the album from Cal who is now 84 years old and get me a copy. It was a very long week waiting anxiously to see if it really was the car. I am so happy that the car in the photo is the car I brought home.
Here is the only picture I have from the 1952 Bonneville Race as well as a few photos of the car today. I am hoping that somebody out there has more pictures or can tell me more about the story of this car.
1952 Bonneville results sheet noted that the car ran: 117.18 mph
My son and I have been thrashing on the car for the last 4 weeks so that we can take it to Bonneville 60 years later. We will be there as spectators.
If you have any old albums or old pictures please contact me. Thank you.

Auwsome ! It is so great to see when someone finds something like this that they really do something with it versus just letting it sit. Lets' see some follow on shots.

Sweet. Looking forward to seing this progress. It's funny that the pic of the car at the Flats looks like the pic of the car today: body on frame and no engine.

Did SCTA require roll bars on roadsters being raced at Bonneville in the early 1950's? If so, what years did that become a requirement, I wonder? Is their any indication that a roll bar was ever on your deuce roadster? Maybe they were not required for racing on the salt flats until later. Anybody know?

Great to see it Scott. Saving the paint whilst patching the rust is going to be a challenge, but I'm sure you'll do it. DP

Lordy that is cool. I noticed the tonneau cover in the old photo and saw where they patched the holes where the snaps were. Very neat! Oh man, I would love to own that car. Congrats!

I looked through my photos on my computer and did not find any. I'll keep my eyes open in my readings though.

there was a roll bar in the car at one time , the small package tray has flame cut half circles in it. I think that it was added later , i dont see it in the 1952 pic.
