History Help needed with a Lawrence (Bud) Davey query

Hi,
Not sure if anyone can, but there's a lot of very knowledgable people here - I've received the email below but I can't shed too much light as of yet - anyone have any clues as I so desparetely want to help this lady;

I was told my father-in-law (Lawrence (Bud) Davey) raced midgets in Pasadena & held the fastest time when they closed it down. He continued to race in Indianapolis. Indianapolis, but he & another driver didn't slow down & I believe hit a man under the yellow flag. He was banned for racing for 2 years. I was also told he would trade places with Billy Devore & ran some laps for him but this was all done under the table or hidden from others.

He rarely talked about those days. He may have quit b/c of a car wreck or the pleading of his wife. I do know there was a crash but I do not know if it was in Pasadena or in Indianapolis. He went back up to Indy I believe in the early 70's & pointed to the race car on display he used to race. Only he & his wife took this trip.

Sadly neither of his sons went on that trip (Bud was mainly looking for relatives also). So back in the late 80's we took his wife back up there & she pointed to the car type he drove & as we were looking at group pictures we believe we found him in one group picture hanging on the wall. Indy was really good to pull old photos & we tried to help us find pictures of him. We didn't find a good picture that we were 100% it was Bud.

Does this sound like it could be true? His wife is elderly & for years she wouldn't talk about those days & I would really like to find out how we might be able to find records from Pasadena & is there any drivers that might be aware of the "Yellow flag" incident back in the 1945-1950s when a man was killed under the yellow flag where 2 drivers were placed on suspension?

She gave me his helmet & goggles he used during races. I believe she has the majority of the information correct but I'm looking for validation of any of the info. I want to p*** it down to his great grand kids

I couldn't find anything on Indy or Pasadena, but here is a link to a video of a Bud Davey racing a speedboat off the NJ coast in 1938. Any help?
