I' m helping a friend with his 1949 Ford V8 Truck it came in and it has no spark.. I thought fst check was to use a jumper wire from the 6 volt battery to the + side of the coil when I did I did not get spark but noticed the jumper wire getting real hot and burn out..

This truck is all stock and original

I'm thinking something shorted in the condenser or coil? wondering if you guys can get me in the right direction to get spark (I was thinking a aftermarket electronic kit ) he mentioned he had trouble with keeping points and condenser in this truck

    thanks for the help ...DANiel

The positive + side of the coil goes to ground, (or the points) in a 6 V positive ground system, as Ford used up to '56.
