i'm needing some help on a 53 buick.

has anybody put gas shocks on a stock front suspension?
the 53 has the shock built in to the top a-arm.
can i get rid of the old shock and put a gas shock through the spring?

thanks for any and all help.

Pictures would help. I have mounted shocks on a 41 Chevy with this situation. I made a mount on the lower A arm and another on the frame. But you still will need the upper A arm in place for the suspension to work proper. Which means the original shock will have to have fluid in it and working proper to function smoothly.
