Havent used this app before on my phone I have a 37 Pontiac coupe that I have repowered working front to back. Got to rear end that previous owner put in. Need to get a postive id on it. It has 10 bolts on front smooth on rear I hope pics come out ok. Last owner seem to think it was a 57 chevy, it needs all new shoes spring cylinders maybe drums so I have to pin it down

Also missing the front piece that clamps the u joint. I'm going to try to find a combination u joint to mate it to a drive shaft out of a 83 mustang

that could well be a 57 chevy rearend. You can buy the U joint U bolts at a parts store. The flange will come off the Ford driveshaft...it may have the correct size U joint already, both Chevy and Ford used the 1310 series Spicer joint in many cars for decades.

Yep, 55-57 Chevy rear assembly. In 58 they went to coil springs, but 55-57 had leaf springs.

looks to me like the driveshaft will be too short. you need it to fit into the transmission end pretty far...

Good catch on your part, but rear end has to move forward at least 3 inches to center the wheels in the wheel wells so it will be OK. Got the u bolts for the rear u joint today and ordering the u joint Monday as soon as vendor gets back to me on the Mustang end. I found some conflicting info on the internet. I also got some 3" lowering blocks I need to put on before firming up the axle position. All this because I wanted to mount gas tank but had to deal with axle first.

Having windshield put in after Christmas, then I'll regester it. I put in the rest of the fixed glass. just put on 15" rims on back with bigger tires.

Just a small tidbit of info for you is that the rear axle assembly most likely is a 55-56 Chevy rear. 57 rears have a drain plug in them. I think axle bearings are slightly different in 57 from the 55-56 rears. Good knowledge to have when ordering parts.
