I need to install my Hurst Shifter to the trans and I would like to see if anyone has the same trans I am using and which shifter did you use for this conversion. I have pictures of my Hurst but I may have to cut and make my own brackets. If you have something that may look like what I am doing if you could post some pictures so I have some ideas. I have a 1952 Mercury 3 speed I am told. Thanks Frenchy
I will have to cut the center brace 6 inches or so from each ends and box them as well and brace the bottom all the way across than I will be able to install the shifter. Frenchy
It looks like your kit is complete with brackets and hardware but your crossmember is in the way. You need to either raise the engine and trans to sit on top or make a new one.
I am planning to have the trans sit on top of the brace so that I can install the shifter. No problem should be easy to modify. Frenchy
The setup in my 27 is somewhat similar to yours except my 3 speed is out of a 68 Galaxy and the Hurst is a flat stick one. But I had to modify the mounting bracket to move it back closer to my seat and lengthen the rods accordingly. See if these pictures help. Don
You're welcome. If you notice, my shifter handle kicks way to the passenger side. Without that it would be too close to my leg. As it is now it still rubs my right leg when in low gear but moves over in 2nd and 3rd. Don
Thanks Don I am planning to have the same set up you have. What body will you be installing on this frame. Frenchy
Finally got it figure out. See pictures below showing how we did the modifications. We cut the original brace out and made our own to fit better. Frenchy
