Hey guys, Been fighting with this for a few days trying to get the trunk of my Olds open. Looking in the lock hole, you can see the latch and everything, however there is no square drive hole to open the latch like in most latches, but there is a lever on the left with two ears that doesn't seem to do anything. I've tried pushing on the hook, but nothing seems to be moving. Anyone have a picture of one of these latches so I can somewhat figure it out? I'd like to see what's actually in the trunk. Thanks! Paul
IF it is a 98, the two levers reach over to each side of the trunk and connect there, holding the trunk down...perhaps the mechanism on the handle has "slipped", meaning it's not tight anymore and it won't move the rods to release the trunk. You'll have to go in thru the trunk to open it... R-
we really should start a post " opening trunks" with out a key....a video of me with one of mine would be pretty funny....
In the factory we had a loonngg extension with a socket on it. Went thru the back seat area and removed the striker bolts.
