does anybody know how big of a diffirence it`s between 49-50 chevy 2door quarterpanel and 51-52 quarterpanels, is it possible to make the 51-52 by cutting to fit on a 49-50`s car without alot of work and metalshaping

if you are swapping a complete factory quarter panel from a 51 onto a 49 it should swap right over with minimal extra work compared to putting a 49 panel on a 49.

one thing to note, you will need to use the 51 tail panel that goes between the bumper and the body from the 51 as well. the contours of the body are different in the rear.

i see, i`m trying to find a new panel for my 49 and the only thing i have found so far is a 4 door 52 here in norway that i can cut from, so the plan was to shape it into a 49 panel if thats possible

  4. The entire back half of the 49-50 quarters are different than 51-52 quarters. Do a search online and see the slope of the back half is much less than the 49-50 because the 51-52s had the tailights in the tip of the quarters....40-50s did not. If all you need is the front half or just the bottom portion, you may be able to cut/splice into your old quarters depending on how good you are at metal work.
All that said.....I thought it might look cool to install 51-52 quarters [with their extended rear 1/2] on a 49-50 sedan delivery.

I can tell you from experience the quarters are very different from about the center of the wheel well back. Where it connects to the rear panel is completely different and the lower portion is longer and again completely different in shape. Depending on how much of the panel you need it may be possible to piece together.

i have bought the lower patch panels but the shap of the top half on the fender is way off so i was hoping to maybe cut to fit an 51-52 quarter if that was possible than making a new one on the english wheel

as you can see the panel is welded and knocked way out of shape

looks like that car has already had a partial quarter welded on half assed.

you need more than a 51 4 door quarter could provide.

Jetslide, I might be able to help you with finding another 1/4 panel for your 50 Chevy. I have boughten alot sheet metal parts over the years from a wrecking yard in Fresno California named
    Turner's Autowreckers
    559-237-0918
They have over 50 acres of cars. I bought a roof for my 54 Ford from them. So I think they would have a 1/4 for you. Now getting it shipped to Norway????. But it is a place to look at.
Hope this info can help you out.
    I have a 50 Chevy Fleetline
    Charles....
