Hello, Im trying to remove the spindles from my 50 meadowbrook and am having a problem removing the king pins. See the attached picture. I cleaned up the area around the king pins and sprayed on penetrating oil and they still wont move. Am i doing anything wrong?

    Thanks
    Ryan

IMO it's easier to remove the entire upright and get the spindle in a vice. The pin you have circled is tapered so you need to see which side has the smaller hole and use a drift and a BFH to knock it out. After that it all slides apart.

Whats the rest of the car look like?

thanks for the reply, so i need to remove the whole ***embly (upper and lower control arms) and then knock it out? I found the tapered side but it still woulnt budge. Car is actually in really good shape. Just wanting to remove the spindle and send it to olddaddy for the disc conversion

What NAES said. You may not get the kingpin free at home. So having the unit free to take to a shop is a good idea.

When I brought mine to work, the shop foreman put it in a hydraulic press. He started the press, I watched the pressure gauge go higher. The foreman kept on increasing the pressure. When he covered his eyes and turned away from the press, I did the same. Sounded like an explosion when mine broke loose. Good luck, I hope yours come free easier.
