Question to the more experienced folks out there... I have a 230 inline 6 in my '65 van and I was wondering if a Clifford intake would be too big for the engine, and/or if an Offenhauser is better suited for my 230 engine as the plenum is/are smaller than the Clifford?

  2. There are several threads on this subject, and a search for them will give you loads of information. Consensus of your application leans more towards the Offy.

It isn’t the manifold it’s the carb. The Clifford has a nice flowing curve to the head ports where the Offy is more rectangular with harsher bends and also has less flow. A correct progressive 2 barrel works on either. Which ever you choose make sure you heat it with connection to the exhaust manifolds or engine coolant.

Interesting – it occurred to me that the Offenhauser very much looks like the stock intake... square and non-flowy.
