    The GMC rears did not have 2 piece axles...that was a Jeep thing.

  5. Totally cool I will check into it at the local O'Reillys. As far as the piece missing on your drum if the water and snow don't get into your brake shoe you will be ok but if it were me i would can it. Thanks for the info.

    Like Squirrel mentioned....Why change it. The only reason I changed the one in my 59 GMC, was it was missing quite a few parts, (axel shaft, backing plate and brake drum). Plus it was full of sludge instead of gear lube. If mine had been in better condition, it would have been used. Replaced it with a narrowed 59 Pontiac rear axel, with Moser 6 lug axels.
