help removing shifter

so i got this 71 ford truck and i was going to pull trany and motor but i cant seem to figure out how to remove the gear shift to drop the tranny out its a 4 spead standerd tranny has 2 rool pins on the side but they dont act like the drive clear through any help

 

Look for a locking ring. The roll pins are just for alignment.

 

The little round cover at the base of the shifter, push it down and twist. Then, trade the truck for something older.
