Help!!! sheet metal vs. Employee

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kulturepimp, Aug 14, 2008.

  1. It isn't beer. I don't even have a drink every month - just not my thing. But I started having this issue after moving to Albuquerque. Less stress, more of mom's cooking. Hmm.
'You are what you eat' - it HAS to be diet, but it isn't alcohol, and probably not salt (cut down on that and no change). Would be nice to know what causes it and what to cut back on to fix it - it is really annoying when your job involves bare metals. Plus, it wipes the letters off my keyboards pretty quick, which really sucks on a laptop.

The PH balance in your body can be alcaline or acidic. Many people test acidic and are more prone to getting cancer and other internal desease. I have a friend who has had some cancer treatments with chemo. He was helping me prep a car for paint at the time and I noticed, everthing he touched would turn to shit. bare metal would rust within that day and he left a yuck slime on everything. I had troubles with the paint blistering on that job and had to warranty the job several times. When he comes by now he's told not to touch anything. He also is a bike painter, but none of his paintjobs last more than a season. I think it's from acid.

I know it's hard to work in gloves, but I recomend kevlar when handling larger pieces of sheetmetal. Maybe try some gibbs lubricant, haven't used any but I've read some good things about this stuff, hope this help's, here's the link:

    try this on...it's theory

his electrolyte levels (ph) are screwed up, increasing acidity/saltiness in his bloodstream. Multi-vitamin and lots and lots of water. Some things that folks drink are diuretics, decreasing water increasing ph. Coke (colored softdrinks), coffee, tea push the water out of the system. Sweating also decreases water.

I personally like to use beer to keep my water content up, it rusts my pipes less.

It's also hyperhydrosis - excess sweating. Sounds like he has a caustic personality. :D

Sh*t, I forgot all about that! When I was still playing in bands I had to replace all the guitar screws with stainless steel, replace my strings often, and wore the plating off of the bridges of many of them.

If anyone knows of a cure, let us know! (Maybe baking soda?)

I had the same thing. I used to work in a shop as the sheet metal fabricator. I did all the chops and everything. My boss hated me, cuz he was the painter. i would touch the car and the next day there would be all these finger prints all over the car. I just resorted to washing my hands more regularly and wearing gloves alot, especially if the car was getting ready to go to paint. Can't tell ya anything more. WE BE SOME SALTY BASTADS

Sounds like it could be hyper-hydrosis, or excessive sweating. A girl I know has to have her flute redone about 3 times a year. She rusted one solid one time...the pins were not removable, it was a parts flute after one year. There is no excess salt but her hands sweat bad, sometimes you can actually see beads of water forming on the backs of her hands. She hates it, and there is an operation that can help it. It involved cutting some nerve, makes the sweating normal.

  15. I always used gloves when I worked in a rod shop. I also cut back on the ungodly amount of coffee/caffeine I drank and it isn't as bad now.

My father could not ware a wrist watch. In 3 days it was done, and could not be fixed. Were all different in some way.

Don't laugh but I had that problem and I use to drink two 24 packs of Coka A Cola a week. I also had skin problems ans stomic problems. I quit drinking Coca A Cola and now drink very little soda pop and after a few month my health problems went away and I quit the rust touch.
I would image the Phosphoric acid in Coca A Cola was the problem.

    try that.

  19. More water and gloves.
I actually put the leads of a Fluke to the sides of my head one time (In the Navy) and had measurable voltage, enough that the electricians asked that I stay clear anytime they were working on circuit boards.
