Do any of you guys know of a power steering box swap for a 56 Ford car?I know nothing will just fall in, but don't want to redo the whole front end just for a box. Any help would be cool. I know its kinda new, but its a wagon and works great for hauling parts for my old ****. Thanks
Contact Jim He knows those set-ups pretty well and can set you up with original re-built parts. Birdoginc@yahoo.com Terry
I put a power box in a customers '54 Merc. It was a kit fom Butch's Rod shop. It used a F150 gear and seemed to work ok. Had to tweak the pitman arm, add to the spindle stops, and some other small stuff but did keep the center link etc. I used the Merc. column because it looked appropriate but it made a lot more work out of the job than if I had used a later column. Butch's is gone now I think and some guy named Opie or Opies or such makes the same bracket. Somebody here must know the new guys name to source the bracket. Or make your own, just a 1/2" plate that picks up the old box holes and is tapped for the new box bolts.
I have a 52 merc, and I have the butch's rod shop kit that adapts a 70 something Ford F100 Steering box in, but i do not have the instructions. Do you happen to know where I could get some?
