Was thinking of notching the wishbones and plating it with 3/16 to strengthen it back up

You could do a slot by connecting the two holes. You will need longer arms to get the tie rod ba HPIM3580 (Small).JPG HPIM3770 (Small).JPG ck far enough to clear the spring.

I'm afraid your using the wrong dropped steering arms, they are not designed for spring behind the axle,,you will most likely need the bigger dropped steering arms. HRP

You can buy the correct reamer from Speedway to ream the tops of your steering arms so the tie rod ends go in them from above.......then slot the split bones like 117Harv said and you're done.

I think those arms are already reamed from the top and bottom. At least mine are.

  12. Really? 5" drop axle and a spring behind set up.
Looks cool as hell I bet :)
That saying "form follows function" means it's gotta work (function) first then looks are second.

You'll need really deep (scary deep) drop steering arms or flip them and put the tie rod ontop of the works.

I've been looking at the space between the axle and frame. It looks close; maybe 1 1/2" . Maybe you could notch the frame. I know you already have the bones, but looks like hairpins might do the trick also.

  14. those are so nice.
-also followed your axle detail post.

    Hey Harv,

What flat-oval tubing is that. I need some, for exactly that.

Did you press down round tube?

It's 4 inch drop axle and I still have to notch the frame for the spring

    I guess that would work.

I figured that's what it actually is, but my point is the tube is way oversize. Tierods normally thread straight into the tube. You'd have more clearance if you went the normal way there.
