If Steve thought he was still going to be there on Friday I'm sure he would have just purchased one at Jegs on Wed afternoon and have been on his way over 24 hours ago. Who would have thought it would have turned into a cluster fuck like this for him. Certainly he didn't.

I'm very disappointed in Summit and will certainly bring this thread to their attention. UPS red label (next day air) cost like $13.00 more or something like that BFD! and just to add insult to injury this is the THIRD pump from them in a short period of time. The current one was brand new when he left on this trip.

  2. I hope you're not pissed at Steve. I'm sure he's not having a good time right now.

I've got a buddy outside of Columbus I called and left a message with to see if he could lend a hand. Hes a bar tender so he may be at work but I'm sure I'll get a call when he gets off. He's a car guy (volkswagens but hey, a wrench is a wrench) so if he calls back I'll let him know and see if he can help. What EXACTLY does he need if anything so I can let him know what to bring if hes avalable?

    Bttt.
I believe he has wrenches and tools as he has already dropped the tank.
The pump (listed earlier) is suppose to be delivered today as i understand it.
If this plan goes south let me know and i will run to Summit today in Akron before they close and deliver this thing.

  5. Stevie ain't doing this because he wants too!,,,don't worry about the truck it's still sitting where it has been and I'm sure Stevie will work things out,,,,

Put yourself in his place,,,if he ain't driving he ain't earning income,,and sitting at a truck stop this long doesn't help him,,,,damn,,,I'm sorry I can't help Stevie,,,,HRP

Hey, I used to drive a semi. I live in Dayton and had a dispatcher stand me at a truckstop in Toledo on a Saturday. He didn't even look for a load until Monday afternoon. His excuse for this was he thought it would be nice to give me a couple days off, three hours from home...

I've been in Steve's shoes many times in the two years I drove.

As I said before. the best thing we can do at this point is be ready to jump if something else goes south and he needs something.

Just talked to stevie. He is still waiting for the pump. He said if he does not have it with in a hour he is going to call them again it see what is going on. When he gets here we are going to check it out so he can make it home ok.

  10. I interpreted that synthis was pissed at summit - since that is when they were talking about the part not shipping -

I am SURE he wasn't saying he was pissed at Stevie - that would be assinine :D

Nope, not yet. He's expecting it now about 3:30pm because thats the time YESTERDAY the UPS guy was there with the call tag to pick up the defective part. Yep, you read that right. The call tag made it there yesterday but the part didn't. He will call me and I'll post when he's back on the road.

    Denise,
I will be in the Akron area until 4:30 today. I found out the Summit store is open until 9 tonight. If it doesnt arrive and there is no one near to get one to him give me a call and I will run over to pick it up and deliver it to Steve.

  15. Aw geez... this is the comedy of errors. Did Steve piss someone off in a previous life or something?

Hopefully he's getting a pump delivered to him right... about... now.

Pete, if you want to make this offer to Steve please call him yourself. I'm staying out of all offers and arrangements. At this point I'm just relaying to the masses whether he's on the road or still at the truck stop. Steve's last comments to me were that he would call me when he got on the road.

acrording to the UPS site, it is on a truck right now......

i hung up from him to call usp service center in wilmington....5 miles where he is.....he said he would have started walking last night if he'd had known it was there at the distribution hub...

ok....just got off the phone with ups.....VERY helpful lady....

she said it is scheduled for delivery by the end of today (that's the most she knew)

however, she wanted his # and said she would pass this info on to the local dispatcher and that the driver should call stevie within the hour......this ups lady seemed more than glad to help and go a little farther than what most would....

as was said earlier, the ups man ran around 3:30 yesterday.....so maybe he's just a bit behind today...

just hung up from stevie....seemed in good spirits.....got more BALLS than i do......i can't hardly get a gas tank down and back in on my nice concrete garage floor AND with nice jacks......my hats off to this guy!!! true hambr...

i just got off the phone with him so that if ups trys to call him i wouldn't interrupt........

i just left him with .....if you don't get your part.....call me and i'll take off work tomorrow......

if anyone else hears anything.....please post.....i want to know that he's ok and on the road

He's not in Dayton, he's outside of Columbus. Shit, someone should have picked him up days ago and took him home to their house for a few days vacation while he waited.;)

  22. steves sister again, he is still at the truck stop. The guy at the counter sent the part back to summit . steve could really use a ride to ups to pick up the part . Its only 5-10 miles away from him. Thanks again

Man I've driven trailer for almost 20 years and having to spend even 1 whole day at a truck stop is a real downer when ya gotta get somewhere. It's even worse if you have something on that trailer that somebody is waiting for. You can't help but feel bad for the guy that's sittin there over a part like that when a company as big as Summit is drops the ball that bad

Yes, a fucking comedy of errors thats for sure. The part is sitting at UPS, the driver screwed up. I just got off the phone with Flathead Youngin'. He's already on his way two hours one way! to go get Steve and drive him to the UPS counter to pick up said part. Jeff will stay with Steve and make sure the part gets installed.

If ANYONE is closer and can reach Steve before 8:30 PM and give him a 10 mile ride to UPS PLEASE let someone here know and get your butt there for a HAMB brother.

Just got off the phone with Steve. Flathead youngin has left his house 20 minues ago to pick up the pump in Wilmington at the UPS depot which is ten minutes away from where he's broke down.
Sounds like Steve will be back on the road this evening.
How many things can go wrong for one guy. Its a shame,, there are many Hambers in Columbus who could have helped this guy.
