Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by PBRmeASAP, Sep 26, 2006.

  1. Dammit, I can't believe this.

Youngin', THANK YOU for stepping up.

Someone PLEASE either get Stevie moving again or get him a bed for the night.

This whole thing makes me sick. I'm a couple of hundred miles north and could have pedaled a Schwyn down there if I'd seen the original post. Every body who watched this go on and on for days should be drafted into a posse to go out to Scotsdale and take care of Nate Cooper.

Steve will be on the road tonight regardless.
I am 40 minutes away from Summit. They close at 9 pm tonight Ohio time.
Thats two hours from now. If for some reason the pump is not at the UPS depot or something else happens. I will pick one up and drive over there to him tonight. I will be checking this hourly. As soon as someone hears bad news have Denise give me a call on my cell and i will leave immediately.

    Thanks. I'm telling Rudy! :)
I was able to get ahold of Steve again and flathead youngin was in the process of taking him over to pick up the part. I explained to him the time limit I had and he said he'd call right away if it wasnt there. That was about 15-20 minutes ago and I didnt get hear from him which is a good thing. Summit closes in 10 mins.
He said flathead youngin will be helping him install it.
Now thats the Hamb I know.

Gentlemen and a tip of my hat to the ladies,
I am new to this board and can say I am very happy to see the amount of Kinship on this board. I am a re-enlisted car-nut but have been ridin' scoots for the last few (25) years. I am by no means trying to take a dig here but, If I were to have let one of my brothers sit this long in a truck stop.....I would be ashamed. I really appreciate all the typing but cannot for the life of me figure out why someone just didn't get off the green and get a pump for the guy. Let him turn the other one in and keep the change. I live in Md. and was close to calling into work just to go get him. I know this was a C.F. (Cluster F&^%) but damn.......FLATHEAD YOUNGIN' your OK in my book.....good form. If you guys don't slam me for this post .....If your ever in Md. you have a roof over your head and food in your belly...(my wife's cookin' ain't that great but food none the less) and a cold beer and for God's sake if your broken' down near me just holler.

He's on the road traveling toward NJ!! He's got about 100 miles under his belt on the new fuel pump. He says everything seems to be running smooth. He's beat. He'll go about another 50 miles to a certain rest stop he knows and pull in there for the nite. He's about 300 miles from where he needs to go tomorrow. He thanked everyone and said he'll log on as soon as he gets home.

My hats off to FlatHead Youngin' for stepping up to the plate.

They still have that retail outlet over on the Grove City side of town too, don't they? I drove through there about a month ago and saw they still had the sign up and cars were in the parking lot.

    Thanks for the update.
Steve called me late last night and thanked me for providing an alternative if the pump wasn't available at the Ups counter. After so much bad luck, I was expecting the worse.
Thanks also to flathead youngin for taking time out of his busy day to make the long trip.
Thanks Denise for babysitting this throughout the ordeal. You always go unnoticed for all the care you give.

Z-Man ...... no need to address this issue I will address it for you. My apologies. I will introduce myself via the New Guy format. And this is not the first time I have stepped into a big stinky pile .... my shoes have been sullied before :D. So let me first take my foot outta my mouth ....go get some soap and water and make it right. Again my apologies to the board.

I just spoke with Steve, I was going to run a pump down to him. He was fixed last night and is currently half of the way across Pennsylvania.

Stevie is doing good. He drop off my truck about 3:30 and made some adjustment on his truck. After that he was heading to N.J. He is a great guy to deal with. Next time I need something hauled I will call him first. I also thank every one that help him out. That what makes it great to be a HAMBer.

just glad he's on the road now.......poor fella.....he was down and "things" just kept kicking him.....

there comes a point where logic, rationale and could have would have should have are useless words (not attacking anyone- shoot i about dropped the ball on him too!)......action meant most.....i just happen to have the time and the means......could have easily not been my # for helping him

besides, i owe the HAMB karma bank a bunch.....still!:D

i would hope to get help too....just knowing help is on the way makes you feel better....

i first read the thread and thought....a hambr needs help....how close is he

then i saw the date and started to close the thread thinking surely it was taken car of already

as i started reading, i couldn't believe that he was still there 2 days later!!!

i called him and got the scoop......seemed everything was fine IF UPS did their job...

so, thinking ok he's fine i'll take the wifey out to eat.......

came back expecting to call him and hear that he was on the road- NOPE ups dropped the ball.....i could have gotten a 1 1/2 hour head start if I hadn't dropped the ball myself and ASSUMED he was ok....

that's when i knew all talking was over......

now, i was aggravated that NO ONE seemed to help a fellow HAMBR out BUT if i would have called him on tuesday he would have said....no problem the pump should be here tomorrow......cool! call if you need me dude...

then, if you would have called the next day, he would have said, well, summit screwed me but it should be here tomorrow....i'll be patient and wait...

Well, ups screwed up too! it was just one fumble after another.......

i'll tell ya, the dude has patience of steel......i would have blown a gasket on the ups folks.....and the summit folks...

    anyway....things are cool now......

we wouldn't have this problem if we would take over a state and all live there......shippers like stevie g wouldn't have to travel so far to deliver our goods:rolleyes: ........what do you guys think.....california......TN.......

FUCK YEAH! i've been away and haven't been able to follow this thread for the last 3 days...can't figure out what took so long but to those that helped, RIGHT FUCKING ON! i'm one of those odd humans that still believes in honesty, courtesy and human decency and it's situations like this that help me to keep the faith in them!

Hey, did he have a 49 chevy truck on his rig? if so it's comin to me :)

  29. Well.......I made it......in time to pay the rent at the shop, hopefully get my apprentice back on track from my little oddyssy(sp) and get back in the truck and start all over again. Right now It's just a run up to NJ and NY and back to ATL.
    As always, subject to change.

To Denise, Flathead Youngin, Pete Joe.....
and everyone else that was on stand-bye....THANK YOU!!

I'm already working on a change to the pump set-up to make it last longer.

As for observations on patience........spend a year in a wheel chair and another year on crutches....three days at a truck stop is a piece of cake.

My reaction to the pump being picked up as soon as it was dropped off... If I could have reached through the phone, over the dispatchers shoulder, that driver would have been toast. The dispatcher was very understanding as I tried to verbalize just how frustrated I was. I was actually speachless for a moment in order not to melt her ear with what was really on my mind.

It kept going from everything is going to be okay to...what the heck else can go wrong?
Lesson, don't ask questions if you don't really want to know the answer.

    Anyway, swap meet is tomorrow.
    Time to boil the bratwurst.

  30. Ya made it!! Glad to hear you're back in town and mobile.

I can't make the swap tomorrow, but next time I see ya I've got to put a cold beverage in your hand. What an ordeal, really happy to hear you made it.
