Help Stewart Warner tach.

Found an old tach a buddy has that I'm interested in. Do these require sending units? Are the sending units repoped? What would need to be done to work with a GM HEI?

You'll need one of these. The small gold one is later and important markings are on the opposite side-8 cyl.,4 cycle, 12 volt. If you get a red can, make sure it has the silver "adjustor" cap. All the ones I've seen without it have had batteries inside, corroded of co****. The adjustor type look to be constructed without them.

You'll have to find one, not making them anymore. Companies like Williamsons Instruments could probably get you going with a retrofit but it may cost more than a used sender would.
