I've got a steering box from a friend that wanted me to rebuild it and said it was out of A52 Chevy car, but it appears to be out of a later 53 or 54 car. It has needle bearings and no bushings. Part number on the box is 5665664 17296987882452083446813591906249.jpg 17296988080323523893451428501671.jpg 172969885023957025201957183618.jpg 17296988657602362737867740307009.jpg 17296988772943771242716129035040.jpg , which comes up as in 1954 box. Can anybody I do this for sure?

None of those casting #s show up in P&A 30 parts book for '55 or '58. As we well know, that doesn't mean anything ...

Well, I figured that it's pretty much A 53 or 54 box. Everything is in good shape. All I have to do is replace the Pitman arm seal and pack it with grease and adjust it. Thanks, all

  5. Needle bearings and the coloumn not one piece with the box is newer then 52

  6. I can look at the 54 box on my 53 tomorrow. Won't be able to look at internals. But I thinking likely it's a 54 off casting number

According to this it would be a 53 or later box. https://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/197370/ Note that thread is 11 years old.
Moving over to the 'The Filling Station" pages that I use a lot to figure out what's what on Chevys https://www.fillingstation.com/ Quite often a rather vague item in the search such as "steering" and then scroll works better than a detailed search. If it exists for an old Chevy they usually show it but experience (a park light lens for my 77 1 ton) say that they may not always have it in stock and may bring it in on a stock order rather than special order.
Meanwhile I'm going with the concept that 49/52 have bushings and 53/54 have needle bearings. Screenshot (1399).png Screenshot (1400).png

Thanks, everybody. I didn't really need to replace anything Except the Pitman arm seal, it's nice and tight packed full of cornhead grease.
