Okay, one last thought. The bronze filter did give me the exact same symtoms you are talking about before it's replacement. But, Another thing that is a bit bizar that not only befell me, but at almost the same time another H.A.M.B.er, ELpolacko. I had an O/T VW that would for no reason simply "run out of gas" and sputter to the side of the road. All the normal checks would ensue, and always it was fuel. A random time later, it would start and drive away like nothing happened. Fuel lines were replaced, filters, pumps, every trick for vapor lock implemented, tank boiled out, nothing. Same problem everytime. What was it? Cellophane cigarette wrapper stuffed in some fuel station nozzel transferred to my tank! It would randomly block the pickup, shutting everything down. even with a flashlight down the tank it couldn't be seen. The first time I had the tank boiled, it didn't destroy it, just rolled it up into a ball that fit the pick up tightly. Like I said, I thought it was a damn stupid thing to have befall a car, until later that summer it happened to ELpolacko too... Same gas station!

This was happening to a friend's Anglia....same exact symptoms. Turned out to the rubber lining within the braided lines was getting eaten away by the ethanol in the fuel, clogging up his fuel system. Not sure if you checked this yet, but make sure that your hoses can handle ethanol-containing fuel......***uming that's what you have in your tank.

On a holley red pump there is a fine screen inside the inlet, pull the inlet fitting & you'll see it, worth the time to check, but sure sounds like vapor lock , have you tried it w/out hood & sides? also ,the way that fuel line comes up to the fuel block, I'll bet it's between the firewall & exhaust manifold, aye?

check your instructions that came with the MSD the coil may need 12 volts all the time and no ballast resister, coil could be heating up due to low voltage

Sounds like vapor lock from heat. And you definately need the regulator with AFB/Edelbrock carbs.
Something noboby mentioned yet, Is the fuel pump wired through a Relay? You could be getting voltage drop at the pump.

This has been an interesting feed. Hell, I thought you were talking about my car.

You see I have spent about 8 weeks doing all the same things that many of you have commented, and have near the same issues with my Hemi powered 32 Sedan. Everytime I seem to fix something, ever so simple, something else is thrown into the equation. I have a question, how long has the car been on the road? Mine had worked flawlessly for 3+ years and has logged many miles, and raced many races without a single problem with ignition and fuel. Now all of a sudden, I had a distibutor cap failure, replaced the condensor, byp***ed my MSD and went conventional points, replaced the red-holley, put a new regulator (that failed out of the box), added fuel pressure gauge, new coil and on and on. I believe that I have solved four problems and it might be reliable again. . . .and then. . . I took it out last Saturday for the first run in 8-weeks and guess what, I broke down. . . I ended up snipping the 12V lead to the MSD Box as it still had hot wire going to it. I made it home without any other issues but I am not confident. You know it as been hot as **** here in Houston but it always is and the car has performed in the heat of summer three years running.

Looks to me that we both have built a few cars, so I can't wait to hear your solution. GG
