OK, I've had this thing for years. It was sold to me as maybe being a real Von Dutch piece. It was cheap enough that I could just put it on the wall and not feel bad either way.

I have had mixed opinions on it. My impression of Dutch's work is that it was all amazing, but I have had some people tell me that he did some absolute shit too - depending upon his level of intoxication.

Anyone have a REAL signed piece to compare signatures? Or know enough to say one way or the other? Did he ever put Ken Howard on anything?

    Thanks!

I tend to agree. He'd have to be pretty fucked up for his talent not to shine through.

  9. Have you seen pics of the shit he put on the side of the Barris station wagon? After seeing that I would believe he was capable of anything good or bad.

The clock was given to me on my 40th B-Day (Many years ago) by Big Daddy
The trash can was a colaboration of Big Daddy and Von Dutch.
    Both are signed
Have a derringer made by Dutch in my safe. Given to me back in the early 60's

  13. Not in 1971 it wouldn't be.

It doesn't look to me like it was even painted with a striping brush...

Could it be someone else's handywork that the person had autographed by Dutch?

Freaky Avatar, Kirk, but I like it!

AFter looking at that trash can, it's amazing how natural and fluid Dutch was compared to just about any other pinstriper I've seen, at least from the new school. Caffeine is getting there :D

  17. hey Uncle Junior .err I mean Kirk wht does that say in german, dutch whatever ?? that might be a clue.............

  18. Signature looks all wrong,
The first stroke of the V is going a diffrent way,
the T is crossed in a diffrent place,
I would say that based on the signature alone it's a fake,
and looking at it, not even a very good one.

  19. Yer so right--- Watched him do the can in my shop many years ago.
Didn't take him more than 30 minutes to do the whole thing.

When he was hiden out @ Cars of Stars and Knotts Berry Farm years ago, he and I became close friends (as close as he'd let ya get).
Sum of the stuff he used to do for me (for a jug of rot gut wine) would blow yer socks off.

The "striping" on your heater is so bad, it looks like it was done with Testors model paint and a stiff plastic bristled brush. The ink-pen signature on the other hand.....maybe?

Did you work with him at Knott's Berry Farm? My high school art teacher did too. Did you know....

Shit, brain lapse. I'll think of it.

  24. Theres a movie called Eurotrip where a bunch of high school kids go to Germany and one of the guys ends up in a German whore house where theyre into bondage and shit. Anyhow, at some point I swear the chick running the place yells that same phrase and these really big bastards bring out some kind of chainsaw with about 2 dozen dildos attached to it and ream this poor kid!

I have a friend with a glass beer mug striped and signed by Dutch. Done in the early 70's. It looks a whole world different from what you've got there, but he also told me that back then the quality of work you got back from Kenneth depended solely on the mood he was in.

Back in them days Big Daddy was livin in La Mirada and he'd hang out @ my shop from time to time also.
    Them were sum scary times.
Don't know how I lived thru it.

I am no expert but I have seen a lot of Kens stuff... and from what I remember the Von Dutch signature... the line that connected the V to the D was pulled to the D and not from the D as these two pictures seem to show.... based on my sole opinion I'd say that it's a fake.... but I hope I am wrong...

that was obviously done during the time he felt that nose hairs made the best striping brush.
