One of my mercs a few years ago had a tilt/shifter column in it, i was told it came out of a early GM. The turn signal lever was also the tilt lever too. It was 2-piece, the cone and then the swivel part, it wasnt big and bulky like the other GM tilts if you guys have any idea what the hell it was i would appreciate it THANKS!

Sounds like it might have been like the one in my '32 2dr. If I remember right it came out of a mid 60's Buick Special/Skylark.

Also look at vans from the '70's--they had a fairly slim tilt column in some years.

Some of the Fords also had the turn signal lever as the tilt lever.

A '63 Cadillac had the first tilt (a 6-position) I thought, followed by a 7-position tilt in '64, then the first tilt/telescoping one in '65.

The first two are pretty thin and not bulky at all.
