Hi I am starting to collect parts for my build(1925 Dodge 5w ). I picked up a rebuilt Buick 455 out of a 71 Riv, Not the big boy but it will work. I am trying to figure out what trans to put behind it. I'm thinking 4 speed but I don't know what will fit. I need an idea on what car/truck to look at in the junk yard. I am building on a budget like the rest of us so I need somthing that bolts rite up. Thanks for the help.

pontiac Buick and olds use the same bolt pattern for the bellhousing. I'd go at least with a Muncie trans like maybe the M-20 which is the wider ratio of the 3 Muncies. Placement will obviously depend on how you locate the engine to where your shifter sits.A good Muncie probably won't be cheap but it will take alot more snot than a Saginaw or you could look for a BW T-10

You definitely want a wide ratio with the 455, use that torque to it's full advantage.

It's probably easiest look for a Pontiac bellhousing. Lemans-GTO, Firebird 350,389,400,455. And the 4 speed that goes with it. You will still have to get a 455 Buick stick flywheel.

i have an early 60's borg warner t10 out of a ford, it bolted right up to the buick bellhousing. i had to machine down the collar which the throwout bearing rides on in order for it to accept a gm bearing..but it works..
