Help With A Fireball

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by **DONOTDELETE**, Sep 30, 2003.

  1. Now that my new Intro is running around I feel safe to ask a question. I got this 50 Buick with a Fireball 8, and i had to hack of the exhaust in front of the muffler because of a mouse nest. I have been fiddling with the carb and it should be tip-top. But the ****er fires up but dies after a few seconds. sometime real short and some times she'll run for 30 seconds. cant think of to much and would be messing with it, because she getting plenty of fuel, i've check it. Anyone out there got any ideas. Appreciate any help.

    Personal experience speaking...

The car may have a working fuel system, but you may not have the spring clip hooked onto the float in the float bowl. The one that raises an lowers the peg to close off the fuel going in when the bowls full!

Been there done that an got the t-shirt. [IMG]

Hope its an easy fix whatever it is! [IMG]

  5. heres a sweet dark picture of my garage right now. On and under the lift is a 57 thunderbird (one of the first of the ***embly line in sept, because it has a dummy bolt on the front bumper) and a 69 Camaro Z-28 with an LT-1 ( my brother high school car). And my buick and the '50.

How good is the fuel pump? Clogged filter-this could enable it to start when the pressure is off and when the pressure comes up could clog again. Check the gas tank for dirt. If its not fuel check out the ignition - coil, condenser, etc.

My son just had about the same problem. Was either the condenser or points because it was all right after changing these.
