I have a 30 model a sedan on 32 rails. i just purchased a pan hard bar and have never installed one. from what im looking at now i see that i might have to weld a bracket off of the batwing....does any company make batwings with brackets allready on them? does the pan hard bar have to be perfectly straight across the chassie? or can it lean a little?....if anyone has any info, it would be most helpfull.....thanks

Ok time to be specific if you want an answer, is this a front or rear panard rod? Next question, what type of axle locating bracketry are you using, 4 bar, wish bone, hairpins or?

  3. Sprint cars use a clevis as part of the locating linkage for the rear axle.

It's already sized for a Heim joint like you might use on a panhard bar. You could just drill a hole in the batwing and put it through like a bolt, then attach the heim joint in the yoke.

Do your batwings use a clevis type end for the radius rods, or do they put a rod end in double shear like a four bar bat wing? I have seen panhard brackets that bolt on for one type but not the other.

It also helps if you name the brand of bracketry you purchased. By identifying the name brand or off brand kit will determine how the components are to be installed. Most kits have complementary parts that assemble easily. In your case it appears that you have mismatched parts. In this case the easiest way to fasten your panard rod to the bat wing would be to make a bolt on plate with a similar design as the bat wing, weld the tabs for the panard rod end mount to the plate and then bolt it on to the batwing using the hair pin bolts as fasteners. The angle of the panard rod should be as close to level at ride as possible.

Surprised no one asked about his steering, I guess we assume he has cross steer since you don't usually use a front panhard bar with side steer.
